Happy 10th Birthday Barbara!

This Monday my oldest child turned 10 years old, which also means we have been parents for a decade??!! Wow that's sobering. ;) She had a great weekend- she invited 2 friends over and Robbie took the three of them to Hoyt pool, then they came back for pizza dinner, make your own ice cream sundaes, and a sleepover. I painted their nails (to the best of my ability - one girl asked incredulously if that was all the nail polish I owned - her mom has a big shelf full- and the other girl said her mom just gets pedicures.) and they did a craft and mad libs and stayed up to midnight.
Then on Sunday the girls were picked up and we went to Mass, then to my cousins new condo down on the Milwaukee River for our family August birthday party. We grilled out, played games and opened presents- Barbara received a KINDLE as well as many books for the Kindle, a sewing skirts book, a light box for tracing all her paper dolls and art things (from us), shoes from her stylish Aunt Caro that are sequined "lil Bobs" (sketchers version of Toms) - see she needs an Aunt like that since her mommy is hopelessly out of touch with what's cool! :) (But Barbara is too- she hadn't heard of Toms but I'm sure her friends at school have) and some gel pens and timer book lamp bookmarks. She was pretty thrilled, in her understated way.

On her actual birthday, we took Leo to OT then she and I made a cake with a fondant owl she had drawn for me to use as a template. In the evening Robbie took Barbara and Jimmy to the Brewers game for her birthday (she had mentioned wanting to do that a while back when she saw the Brewers home game schedule do I found $5 tix on craigslist). They got to stay out until 10:30 and had a blast.

Happy Birthday amazing and wonderful Barbara!!
